• Platted lot, sectional subdivision or metes and bounds?

Sectional subdivisions and metes and bounds properties can require that the entire section (± 640 acres) be surveyed, regardless of the area of the parcel. In extreme cases a survey of more than one section is required.

To determine what type of subdivision your property is located within take a look at your legal description and compare it to these examples:

• A Typical Platted Lot Description
Lot 22, Block 3, Inglewood Addition, recorded under Volume 46, page 66, records of King County, Washington.
• A Typical Sectional Subdivision Description
The east 305 feet of the SE 1/4., of the NW ¼ of the NW ¼ of Section 24, Township 26 North, Range 6 East, W.M. except the north 143.53 feet thereof and except the south 349 feet thereof
• A Typical Metes & Bounds Description
That portion of the West ¼ of the Northwest ¼ of Section 25, Township 23 North, Range 5 West, W.M. described as follows, commencing at the southeast corner of said subdivision, thence north 21°12'28" west along the east line thereof 400 feet to the true point of beginning; thence south 89°47'32" west 180 feet; thence south 54°00'00" west 72 feet more or less to the northerly margin of Frank's Field Road' thence southeasterly along said margin to the easterly line of said subdivision; thence north 0°12'28: west to the true point of beginning; situate in the County of King, State of Washington.
